    Hi I’m Damien, co-founder of AI Tax Tool. Having worked in Deloitte Ireland’s income tax department for over 6 years, I left the company in early 2024 as a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and Chartered Accountant (ACA).

    My plan when leaving Deloitte involved a one way ticket to Bogota and not much more. Having landed in South America and without knowing a single person on the continent or a word of Spanish, I quickly resorted to using ChatGPT to help me navigate this foreign landscape. I was blown away by the power of the software and began understanding why so many people believe that we are going through a generational technological shift.

    This led me to start thinking about how AI will change the way business is conducted in the tax industry. Fast forward 9 months and AI Tax Tool is the first company to bring free AI powered tax tools to the Irish market.

    Hi I'm James, co-founder of AI Tax Tool. As a software engineer at SurveyMonkey in San Francisco, I've spent the last two years building large-scale web applications and working with cutting-edge technologies. Before moving to SF, I worked in Dublin's thriving tech scene, where I first became interested in the intersection of technology and financial services.

    My journey to San Francisco in 2022 opened my eyes to the transformative power of AI, particularly in how it could revolutionize traditional industries. Working in the heart of Silicon Valley, I've witnessed firsthand how AI is reshaping the way we build software and solve complex problems.

    This experience led me to think about how we could leverage AI to simplify tax calculations for Irish citizens.

Our Story

At AI Tax Tool was founded in 2024 by Irish duo James Hurley and Damien Roche, blending years of financial services expertise with cutting-edge software engineering capabilites.

Having first met while attending St. Joseph's Patrician College 'The Bish' secondary school in Galway city, we have become good friends over the years through our shared passion for travel and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

We believe that ordinary people should benefit from the advances in AI through the decreased need for technical knowledge when it comes to managing their tax affairs.

AI powered software is capable of providing valuable assistance without the need for detailed input from users. This translates into a more efficient user experience and we believe that this should reflected when it comes to managing one’s taxes.
